The location of East Las Vegas has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of East Las Vegas, you might consider that their post office opened in 1885. Las Vegas While the community is gone, the present day location for East Las Vegas is 6,500 feet [1,981 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of East Las Vegas is about 1¼ mile [or ~2 km] above sea level.
