Welcome to East Camp ...

So far, we found very little information about East Camp. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

East Camp would have been located within present day Grant County<2>.


The location of East Camp has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of East Camp, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1940.

While the community is gone, the present day location for East Camp is 5,750 feet [1,753 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of East Camp is about 1 mile [or 1¾ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where East Camp was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from East Camp, you will soon leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for East Camp was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the East Camp post office opened in 1940.
