Crystal is primarily located in San Juan County<1>. A portion of Crystal extends into McKinley County.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Crystal, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1903.

Crystal is 7,520 feet [2,292 m] above sea level.<2> In other words, the elevation of Crystal is about 1½ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: Crystal lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you leave Crystal and travel west, you will soon leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not.

We originally found mention of Crystal in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Crystal was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Crystal post office opened in 1903.
