Welcome to Council Rock ...

So far, we found very little information about Council Rock. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Council Rock to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Council Rock , we believe that it would have been located within present day Socorro County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Council Rock, you might consider that their post office opened in 1881.

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Council Rock was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Council Rock post office opened in 1881.
