So far, we found very little information about Carlisle. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Carlisle to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Carlisle , we believe that it would have been located within present day Grant County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Carlisle, you might consider that their post office opened in 1884.
When the people of Carlisle referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Carlisler<3>
Time Zone: The area where Carlisle was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time
If Carlisle still existed, it would have been in the (575) area code.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Carlisle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>
From that list, the Carlisle post office opened in 1884.
We also found Carlisle in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
