At the time of the 2010 Census, Belen had a population of 7,269 people (or 9.49% of the total population of Valencia County). This makes Belen the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,269 people, the population of Belen increased 5.33% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,901 people).

We originally found mention of Belen in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Belen was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Belen post office opened in 1865.

We also found Belen in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
