Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Dover had an population of 32,293 people. This is an increase of 7.69% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 20.12% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Dover had a population of 29,987 people (or 24.35% of the total population of Strafford County). This makes Dover the county's most populous community.

The population of Dover represents 2.28% of the total population of New Hampshire (which has 1,316,470 people), making it the state's 5th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 29,987 people, the population of Dover increased 11.54% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 26,884 people).
