Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Alma had an population of 1,141 people. This is an increase of 0.71% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 6.01% since the 2000 Census).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Alma had a population of 1,133 people (or 33.1% of the total population of Harlan County). This makes Alma the county's most populous community.
The population of Alma represents 0.06% of the population of Nebraska (which has 1,826,341 people), making it the state's 98th most populous community.
With a 2010 count of 1,133 people, the population of Alma decreased 6.67% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,214 people).
