Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Mandan had an population of 22,752 people. This is an increase of 24.12% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 36.09% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Mandan had a population of 18,331 people (or 66.73% of the total population of Morton County). This makes Mandan the county's most populous community.

The population of Mandan represents 2.73% of the population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 6th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 18,331 people, the population of Mandan increased 9.65% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 16,718 people).
