Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Hope had an population of 252 people. This is a decrease of 2.33% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 16.83% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hope had a population of 258 people (or 13.06% of the total population of Steele County). This makes Hope the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Hope represents 0.04% of the total population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 174th most populous community.
