At the time of the 2010 Census, Courtenay had a population of 45 people. This makes Courtenay the county's 11th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 45 people, the population of Courtenay decreased 15.09% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 53 people).

We originally found mention of Courtenay in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Courtenay was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Courtenay post office opened in 1905.

We also found Courtenay on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Dakota (1937).
