Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Tar Heel had an population of 114 people. This is a decrease of 2.56% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 62.86% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Tar Heel had a population of 117 people. This makes Tar Heel the county's 7th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 117 people, the population of Tar Heel increased 67.14% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 70 people).
