Orange County was founded in 1752. Orange was created by taking area from Bladen, Granville and Johnston Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Orange had a population of 148,476 people. This is an increase of 10.82% since the last Census (which gave a population of 133,981 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Orange represented 1.41% of the total population of North Carolina.
