Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Brevard had an population of 7,879 people. This is an increase of 3.55% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 16.06% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Brevard had a population of 7,609 people (which is 22.99% of the total population of Transylvania County). This makes Brevard the county's most populous community.

The population of Brevard represents 0.08% of the population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 100th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,609 people, the population of Brevard increased 12.08% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 6,789 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Brevard was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Brevard post office opened in 1868.
