The location of Wheaton has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Wheaton, you might consider that their post office opened in 1911. While the community is gone, the present day location for Wheaton is 3,750 feet [1,143 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Wheaton is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.
