Welcome to Tobacco ...So far, we found very little information about Tobacco. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Tobacco to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Tobacco has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Tobacco, you might consider that their post office opened in 1894. While the community is gone, the present day location for Tobacco is 2,670 feet [814 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Tobacco is ½ mile above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Tobacco was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel west from Tobacco (for example, toward Moyie Springs (ID)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT). The location where Tobacco once stood is in the (406) area code.
