Welcome to Smead ...

So far, we found very little information about Smead. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Smead to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Smead, please Contact Us.

Smead would have been located within present day Sanders County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Smead, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1891.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Smead is 2,180 feet [664 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Smead is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Smead was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel south from Smead (for example, toward Osburn (ID)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Smead was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
