Such is the case with Joplin.<1> Our sources for Joplin (see Mentions and References below) indicate that it was a community with a post office by the same name. Unfortunately our sources aren't clear about the location of Joplin other than they indicate that Joplin would be found somewhere in Winston County, Mississippi. From the Blevins / Hellbock List: The post office opened in 1900 and closed in 1909. Communities Also Named Joplin ...We found eight communities that share the name Joplin. There is one other community in Mississippi which is also named Joplin. Beyond Mississippi, we know of another seven communities that are located throughout in the United States.
