Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Hickory had an population of 518 people. This is a decrease of 2.26% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 3.81% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hickory had a population of 530 people. This makes Hickory the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Hickory represents 0.02% of the population of Mississippi (which has 2,967,297 people), making it the state's 203rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 530 people, the population of Hickory increased 6.21% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 499 people).

We originally found mention of Hickory in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hickory was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Hickory post office opened in 1860.

We also found Hickory in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
