Welcome to Dushan ...

So far, we found very little information about Dushan. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Dushan to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Dushan - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Dushan, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Dushan , we believe that it would have been located within present day Jasper County<2>.

Dushan was established in 1919.

Time Zone: The area where Dushan was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Dushan to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Dushan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Dushan post office opened in 1924.

<1>	We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Dushan, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.

<3>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 601 code has been Overlayed with the 769 area code. New phone numbers in the Dushan area will be assigned with one of these codes: 601 or 769. As a result, placing a call in the Dushan area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
