Choctaw County was founded in 1833. Choctaw was created by taking area from Lowndes, Madison, Monroe and Yazoo Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Choctaw had a population of 8,210 people. This is a decrease of 4.22% since the last Census (which gave a population of 8,572 people in 2010).
