Welcome to Baptist ...

So far, we found very little information about Baptist. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Baptist to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Baptist - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Baptist, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Baptist , we believe that it would have been located within present day Quitman County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Baptist, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was on a map dated 1911.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 5 communities that are also named Baptist - they are located in Kentucky (2), Louisiana, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Baptist was on a map titled Map of Mississippi (from Rand McNally, 1911).

We also found Baptist in the book titled SPV's Comprehensive Railroad Atlas of North America - Southern States.
