At the time of the 2010 Census, Nixa had a population of 19,022 people (or 24.44% of the total population of Christian County). This makes Nixa the county's most populous community.

The population of Nixa represents 0.32% of the population of Missouri (which has 5,988,927 people), making it the state's 35th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 19,022 people, the population of Nixa increased 56.9% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 12,124 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Nixa was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Nixa post office opened in 1881.
