Welcome to Hickory Creek ...

So far, we found very little information about Hickory Creek. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Hickory Creek to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Hickory Creek , we believe that it would have been located within present day Audrain County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Hickory Creek, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1840.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Missouri communities named Hickory Creek: This one is located in Audrain County and the other is located in Grundy County.

We originally found mention of Hickory Creek in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hickory Creek was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Hickory Creek post office opened in 1840.

We also found Hickory Creek in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
