Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Fortescue had an population of 29 people. This is a decrease of 9.38% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 43.14% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Fortescue had a population of 32 people. This makes Fortescue the county's 7th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 32 people, the population of Fortescue decreased 37.25% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 51 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Fortescue was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Fortescue post office opened in 1884.

We also found Fortescue in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
