Welcome to Elliott ...

So far, we found very little information about Elliott. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Elliott to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Elliott - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Elliott, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Elliott , we believe that it would have been located within present day Randolph County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Elliott, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1879.

Time Zone: The area where Elliott was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Elliott to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Elliott in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Elliott was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Elliott post office opened in 1879.

We also found Elliott in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Elliott, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Missouri's counties, including Randolph, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
