Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Missouri communities named Dogwood: This one is located in Douglas County and the other is located in Mississippi County.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Dogwood was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>
From that list, the Dogwood post office opened in 1880.
