Welcome to Castle ...

So far, we found very little information about Castle. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Castle to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Castle - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Castle, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Castle , we believe that it would have been located within present day Andrew County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Castle, you might consider that their post office opened in 1868.

Time Zone: The area where Castle was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

The Area Codes where Castle was located: 816 & 975<3>

Communities Also Named Castle ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Missouri communities named Castle: This one is located in Andrew County and the other is located in Sullivan County.

Beyond Missouri, there are 12 communities that are also named Castle - they are located in California (2), Indiana, Kentucky (2), Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon and Utah.

Adding Castle to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Castle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Castle post office opened in 1868.

We also found Castle in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).

However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. <3>	When there's a risk of an area code running out of phone numbers, an 'Overlay Area Code' is created that has the same geographic boundaries as the existing area code. In this case, the 816 code has been Overlayed with the 975 area code. New phone numbers in the Castle area will be assigned with one of these codes: 816 or 975. As a result, placing a call in the Castle area will require 10-digit dialing (where you enter both the area code and then the phone number).
