Roseau County was founded in 1894. Roseau was created by taking area from Kittson and Beltrami Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Roseau had a population of 15,176 people. This is a decrease of 2.9% since the last Census (which gave a population of 15,629 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Roseau represented 0.29% of the total population of Minnesota.
