At the time of the 2010 Census, Owosso had a population of 15,194 people (or 21.51% of the total population of Shiawassee County). This makes Owosso the county's most populous community.

The population of Owosso represents 0.15% of the total population of Michigan (which has 9,883,640 people), making it the state's 63rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 15,194 people, the population of Owosso decreased 3.3% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 15,713 people).
