Kalamazoo County was founded ? and was created by taking area from Saint Joseph County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Kalamazoo had a population of 265,531 people. This is an increase of 6.07% since the last Census (which gave a population of 250,331 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Kalamazoo represented 2.53% of the total population of Michigan.
