Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Cumberland had an population of 8,239 people. This is an increase of 14.26% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 15.09% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cumberland had a population of 7,211 people. This makes Cumberland the county's 14th most populous community.

The population of Cumberland represents 0.54% of the total population of Maine (which has 1,328,361 people), making it the state's 45th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,211 people, the population of Cumberland has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 7,159 people).
