At the time of the 2010 Census, Carthage had a population of 560 people. This makes Carthage the county's 15th most populous community.

The population of Carthage represents 0.04% of the population of Maine (which has 1,328,361 people), making it the state's 352nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 560 people, the population of Carthage increased 7.69% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 520 people).
