Gallatin County was founded in 1798. Gallatin was created by taking area from Franklin and Shelby Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Gallatin had a population of 8,842 people. This is an increase of 2.95% since the last Census (which gave a population of 8,589 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Gallatin represented 0.2% of the total population of Kentucky.
