So far, we found very little information about Vernon. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have the exact location of Vernon , we believe that it would have been located within present day Graham County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Vernon, you might consider that their post office opened in 1884.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Vernon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Vernon post office opened in 1884.
