While we don't have a date for the founding of Seward, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1878.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Seward: Named for William Henry Seward (1801-1872), U.S. Secretary of State for Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Seward has a population of 61 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Seward had an population of 61 people. This is a decrease of 4.69% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 3.17% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Seward had a population of 64 people. This makes Seward the county's 5th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 64 people, the population of Seward increased 1.59% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 63 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Seward was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Seward post office opened in 1878.

We also found Seward in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
