Welcome to Salisbury ...

So far, we found very little information about Salisbury. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Salisbury to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Salisbury - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Salisbury, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Salisbury , we believe that it would have been located within present day Cherokee County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Salisbury, you might consider that their post office opened in 1859.

When the people of Salisbury referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Salisburian<3>

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 21 communities that are also named Salisbury - they are located in Connecticut, Illinois (2), Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Brunswick, New Hampshire, New York (2), North Carolina, Ontario, Oregon, Pennsylvania (2), Texas, Vermont and Virginia (2).

Adding Salisbury to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Salisbury was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Salisbury post office opened in 1859.
