Welcome to Progress ...

So far, we found very little information about Progress. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Progress to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Progress - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Progress, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Progress , we believe that it would have been located within present day Edwards County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Progress, you might consider that their post office opened in 1903.

If Progress still existed, it would have been in the (620) area code.

Communities Also Named Progress ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Kansas communities named Progress: This one is located in Edwards County and the other is located in Leavenworth County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 22 communities that are also named Progress - they are located in Alabama, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi (3), Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas (3), Utah, Virginia and West Virginia.

Adding Progress to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Progress was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Progress post office opened in 1903.
