Welcome to Prairie Plain ...

So far, we found very little information about Prairie Plain. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Prairie Plain to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Prairie Plain - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Prairie Plain, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Prairie Plain , we believe that it would have been located within present day Republic County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Prairie Plain, you might consider that their post office opened in 1870.

Adding Prairie Plain to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Prairie Plain was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Prairie Plain post office opened in 1870.
