At the time of the 2010 Census, Parsons had a population of 10,500 people (or 48.75% of the total population of Labette County). This makes Parsons the county's most populous community.

The population of Parsons represents 0.37% of the total population of Kansas (which has 2,853,118 people), making it the state's 36th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 10,500 people, the population of Parsons decreased 8.81% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 11,514 people).

We originally found mention of Parsons in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Parsons was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Parsons post office opened in 1870.

We also found Parsons in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
