Welcome to Moore ...

So far, we found very little information about Moore. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Moore to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Moore - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Moore, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Moore , we believe that it would have been located within present day Marion County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Moore, you might consider that their post office opened in 1897.

Communities Also Named Moore ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Kansas communities named Moore: This one is located in Marion County and the other is located in Chautauqua County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 33 communities that are also named Moore - they are located in Arkansas (2), California (2), Colorado, Florida, Georgia (3), Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky (2), Louisiana, Manitoba, Michigan (2), Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio (2), Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas (2), Utah, Washington and West Virginia (2).

Adding Moore to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Moore was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Moore post office opened in 1897.
