The Commemorative Quarter for Kansas

Welcome to Miller ...

So far, we found very little information about Miller. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Miller to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Miller - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Miller, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Miller , we believe that it would have been located within present day Morris County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Miller, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1855.

Communities Also Named Miller ...

While we believe that this Miller is located in Morris County, we know of another 3 Kansas communities named Miller. Those communities are located in the following counties: Bourbon, Douglas and Lyon County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 56 communities that are also named Miller - they are located in Alabama (3), Arkansas (4), California (3), Florida, Illinois, Indiana (2), Iowa, Kentucky (2), Maryland, Michigan (7), Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri (3), Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio (3), Oklahoma (2), Ontario, Oregon (3), Pennsylvania (2), South Dakota (2), Tennessee (2), Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wyoming.

Adding Miller to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Miller was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Miller post office opened in 1855.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Miller, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Kansas' counties, including Morris, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
