Welcome to Maud ...

So far, we found very little information about Maud. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Maud to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Maud - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Maud, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Maud , we believe that it would have been located within present day Morton County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Maud, you might consider that their post office opened in 1886.

The location where Maud once stood is in the (620) area code.

While we believe that this Maud is located in Morton County, we know of another 2 Kansas communities named Maud. Those communities are located in the following counties: Kingman and Norton County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 20 communities that are also named Maud - they are located in Alabama (2), Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina (2), Texas, Washington and West Virginia.

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Maud was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Maud post office opened in 1886.
