The origin (or the toponymy) of Gove City: Named for Grenville L. Gove, a Captain serving with the 11th Cavalary.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Gove City had an population of 71 people. This is a decrease of 11.25% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 32.38% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Gove City had a population of 80 people. This makes Gove City the county's 5th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 80 people, the population of Gove City decreased 23.81% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 105 people).
