Welcome to Forest ...

So far, we found very little information about Forest. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Forest to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Forest - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Forest, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Forest , we believe that it would have been located within present day Russell County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Forest, you might consider that their post office opened in 1904.

Forest would have been located in the (785) area code.

Communities Also Named Forest ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Kansas communities named Forest: This one is located in Russell County and the other is located in Barber County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 32 communities that are also named Forest - they are located in Alabama (2), California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana (2), Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Ohio (2), Ontario (2), Pennsylvania (2), South Carolina (3), Texas (2), Virginia (2), Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Adding Forest to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Forest was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Forest post office opened in 1904.
