Welcome to Canyon ...

So far, we found very little information about Canyon. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Canyon to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Canyon - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Canyon, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Canyon , we believe that it would have been located within present day Finney County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Canyon, you might consider that their post office opened in 1904.

Time Zone: The area where Canyon was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Canyon still existed, it would have been in the (620) area code.

Adding Canyon to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Canyon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Canyon post office opened in 1904.
