A Gazetteer for the United States and Canada
Welcome to Amiot ...
Although we found mention of Amiot during our research, we have little information about it.<1> We believe that Amiot had a post office at one time. We have done a cursory search and haven't been able to find any evidence that the community still exists..
While we are confident that Amiot was located in Anderson County, we don't know its actual location within the county.
We've added Amiot to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Amiot - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Amiot, please Contact Us.
We don't have a date for the establishment of Amiot.
The community of Amiot was previously named Mineral Point.
Time Zone: The area where we believe that Amiot might be (or was) located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time
Adding Amiot to Our Gazetteer ...
As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.
We originally found mention of Amiot in the FIPS-55 file. For more information, see the Referenced FIPS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.
In addition, we also found mention of Amiot elsewhere: The earliest book where we found it mentioned was in the Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
We also found Amiot on a Rand McNally Map of Kansas (1911).
For more details about the above, see References and Mentions for Amiot on our Genealogy Page.
