Welcome to Alvin ...

So far, we found very little information about Alvin. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Alvin to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Alvin - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Alvin, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Alvin , we believe that it would have been located within present day Marion County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Alvin, you might consider that their post office opened in 1901.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 10 communities that are also named Alvin - they are located in British Columbia, Colorado, Georgia (2), Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Alvin was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
