The Commemorative Quarter for Indiana





Welcome to Minetree ...

So far, we found very little information about Minetree. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Minetree would have been located within present day Morgan County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Minetree, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1900.

Time Zone: The area where Minetree was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Minetree (for example, toward Vermilion (IL)), you will leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

Adding Minetree to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Minetree was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

X2X - From that list, the Minetree post office opened in 1900.

We also found Minetree on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1908.

However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Minetree, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
