The Commemorative Quarter for Indiana

Welcome to Day ...

So far, we found very little information about Day. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Day to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Day - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Day, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Day , we believe that it would have been located within present day Scott County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Day, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1895.

Time Zone: The area where Day was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Day ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 16 communities that are also named Day - they are located in Arkansas, California, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri (2), Nebraska, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin.

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Day.

Adding Day to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Day was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Day post office opened in 1895.

We also found Day on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1908.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Day, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Indiana's counties, including Scott, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
